  • Timber Frame

While everything else is going on, our timber frame is progressing along nicely at the workshop of Arlington Timber Frame Company. When the foundation is ready, the frame will be raised onsite.

All the timbers are hand-cut according to a very detailed plan. It's amazing that they can keep things so organized.

Here Ken, under the direction of Buddy the dog, is test fitting the pieces for part of the frame. It's easier to make adjustments now than when the timbers arrive onsite and are being errected. Nothing is permanently attached so that it can all be disassembled and then reassembled on the building site.

This is the cross section of the main part of the house. The timber framed wing containing the kitchen, dining room, a bedroom, and a bathroom will attach to the side.
