  • Roofing / Siding / Windows - Part 1

The guys from Brooks Levy Construction also happen to do roofing.

Starter strip is on, ice and water shield is down and now come the shingles...

Almost done the highest side. It would be pretty much impossible without the scaffolding. It's high up and the pitch of the roof is pretty steep.

That's Ken under the tarp. It was pouring rain so he just strung up the tarp and kept on working.

All done the main part of the house. There will be a couple of small awnings built on this side of the house with some timber braces so the roofing for that will be done a little later.

Insulation is put in the walls, building wrap is applied, and then strapping. The strapping keeps an air space between the fibre cement siding and the wall.

    The master bedroom.

The guys are putting in one of the Dining Room windows.

The windows in the front are almost done.

Next comes the siding. We are putting up HardiPlank fibre cement siding. It's pre-coloured so we won't have to paint it for quite a few years.

On the above picture you'll notice some awnings over the front door and some windows. Arlington Timber Frame Company built them. It's a deviation from the original plan but they turned out really well.
