Finally we get to see something actually built. This is one of the most important parts of the house. Todd and his crew from TABS Davison Construction is doing the concrete work for us. TABS also builds houses from start to finish.

First they start with building the forms for the concrete footings. The footings form the base for the concrete walls.

Footings are all done. Now we have to get a surveyor to come in and survey the position of the footings. The government won't let you build any further until the surveying is done. I guess they just want to be really sure you are actually on your lot before you build the rest of the house.

The surveyor came by and now we can move on to the foundation walls. Once the concrete for the footings was set, the forms for the basement walls were put up. Then came the concrete.

The concrete walls are all done and now we wait for the concrete to harden. In the mean time, we can get the plumber to do his thing with the underfloor plumbing before the concrete floor is poured.

The forms are off. That looks way too nice to backfill and cover up with a house. A water proof sealer will be applied to the outside of the wall and foam insulation attached.

On to the floor... The plumber has been in and laid any pipes that go under the concrete and put down the piping for the infloor heat. The white stuff under the concrete is foam insulation that will help keep in all that heat we will be pumping in to the floor. Now the floor is being poured on top.

The floor is pretty much done. Final finishing is done with a power trowel. Next we frame up the half walls in the basement and the floor for upstairs...
