  • Basement - Part 2

It's amazing how much work there is to do before the main part of the house is built...

The basement was framed. The framing crew is from Brooks Levy Consruction in Centreville. We have half concrete walls on two sides of the basement so a couple large openings are framed for some windows.

Basement framing is all done and the stairs are in. We'll be putting timbers in the basement as support columns so notice what the framers put up as temporary posts... They made good use of the abundance of trees around.

We put a window well in the concrete wall at the front. There is gravel running from the bottom of the well to the base of the footings. As well, there is a drain pipe running all the way to the drain around the footings. There shouldn't be any problems with it flooding.

On to the backfilling... it was pouring rain but Percy, the dozer operator, charged on anyways.

    Gravel for the driveway...

All ready for the timber frame to go up.
